The government of Imo State has urged Security operatives in the state to expedite their investigation  into the recent attack on Police and Nigerian Correctional Services facilities by hoodlums to ensure the perpetrators are fished out and made to face justice.

The Imo Government also called on the Security agencies to beam their searchlight on all possible suspects and avoid the temptation of focusing in only one direction to ensure that the brains behind the mayhem are fished out and prosecuted accordingly.

The government made the calls on Wednesday during the weekly executive council meeting.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, who addressed newsmen after the meeting said the least the security agencies would do is to unmask the known and unknown agents of the mayhem.

Emelumba said Council condemned the attacks in strong terms and commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for his proactive steps in dealing with the situation which drew the attention and support of the Federal government.

Emelumba said: “Council  directed the security agents to  expedite their investigation and make sure that no stone is left  unturned and to beam their searchlight  in all possible suspected area and not concentrate on only one area and ensure that those who perpetrated this dastardly act are fished out and brought to book as quickly as possible.

“Council also stated Imo Governmentgovernment’s stand that Oil companies operating in Imo can key into the vision of government by identifying projects and needs of the communities which they can fund and not by distributing cash to some individuals,” warning that “any company insisting on doing so is running contrary to government.”

Emelumba added: “Council finally informed that under this administration a law has been enacted to coordinate and harness all projects funded by the World Bank and all other donor agencies, through a new bureau set up to ensure the documentation of the various projects executed under the different international donor agencies.

“The documentation would ensure that records of all projects funded, amount donated and spent, so that they continue beyond successive administrations and give no room for siphoning of money meant for development projects.

“Council affirmed that this was another evidence of government’s efforts at ensuring accountability in all activities including projects from International donor agencies.”

Present at the briefing were the Chief Press Secretary/ Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Oguwike Nwachuku, the Commissioner for Lands Survey and Physical Planning, Hon. Noble Atulegwu, Commissioner for Power, Barr. Enyinnaya Onuegbu and that for Special Projects, Barr. Kingsley Ononuju.
