Following what they described as politically motivated killings of three policemen and some members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), ahead of the scheduled Saturday, November 11, 2023 governorship election in Kogi State, some protesters on Wednesday stormed the Nigeria Police Force headquarters, Abuja protesting the against escalated insecurity in the state.
The Governorship candidate of the SDP, for the November 11 election, Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, led protest that included members of the party and some key stakeholders in kogi State.
Ajaka, who was accompanied by prominent party members and supporters, demanded the removal and prosecution of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Bethrand Onuoha, who he accused of compromising the safety of the lives and property of citizens of the state
The SDP Governorship candidate for the Saturday poll in Kogi State, alleged that sponsored thugs had disguised as members of the state joint taskforce and attacked the residence of the Campaign Director General of SDP, Sheikh Ibrahim, in the early hours of Tuesday during which three policemen and some party members were brutally gunned down.
