Lagos Traffic Radio to hold 5th Lecture Series…Identifies with new realities in law enforcement

All is set for the fifth virtual edition of the Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1Fm lecture series tagged Traffic Law Enforcement: The New Normal. The annual event which is in line with the Traffic Management and Transportation initiatives of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, as one of the pivotal policy thrust of his administration (T.H.E.M.E.S), will focus on the activities of the various law enforcers, explaining their operations and the interconnectivity with the motoring public in Lagos state.

The virtual event scheduled to take place on Thursday 17th December, 2020, will bring together various stakeholders in the transportation sector, with the aim of churning out ideas that will revolutionise the transport sector in Nigeria. The event also affords stakeholders opportunity to interface, come up with different ideas and practices including the latest tools that could be deployed for effective law enforcement in the state.

Speaking on the novel idea behind the Lecture Series, the General Manager of the station, Mr. Tayo Akanle, said the Annual Traffic Lecture Series is an avenue for the transformation of the transport industry using the ingenious thoughts of transport experts, policy-holders, analyst, researchers, transport operators, top government functionaries as veritable tools for the advancement of the industry. He added that reforming traffic enforcement in the State, through intellectual engagements like this, is a starting point for the attainment of the smart city initiative of the government.

The fifth lecture series seeks to promote better ways of improving traffic enforcement with specific focus on Covid 19 protocols. The advent of the corona virus pandemic this year has heard spiraling effect on all sectors of the economy; transportation not excluded. The robust engagement will see transport enthusiasts identify the nexus between transportation and health, as well as examine the realities of enforcing the Transport Sector reforms Law2018 in the midst of a global pandemic.

This year’s edition, which is the fifth in the series will see Lagos State Deputy governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat headline the event as the lead Speaker. Other Speakers earmarked for this Lecture Series are: Dr Frederick Oladeinde, Honourable Commissioner for Transport Lagos and Professor Akin Abayomi Commissioner for Health Lagos State.

The Annual Traffic Lecture Series started in 2016 attracting over a thousand participants cutting across the entire gamut of the transportation industry. Top Government Functionaries like Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Minister for transportation, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola Minister for Works and Housing, Senator Olorunnibe Mamowora Minister of State for Health, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, Corp Marshal FRSC have all graced the past four installments of the Lecture Series.
