Nigerian social media influencer Mandy Kiss has defended herself after a storm of criticism over her controversial claim of sleeping with 100 men in one day, clarifying that the statement was fabricated purely for online engagement.
In a video posted online and delivered in Yoruba, Mandy Kiss emphasized that her remarks were part of her “cruise-catching” content style. “I’m only catching cruise. I do the videos to boost engagements on my page and attract adverts. I can’t have sex with 100 people. I don’t even have money for a lawyer,” she explained.
Her clarification highlights the growing tension between influencers’ quest for attention-grabbing content and the societal backlash such antics often generate.
The uproar escalated when the Eselu of Iselu Kingdom in Ogun State, Oba Ebenezer Akinyemi, formally petitioned Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, calling for Mandy’s arrest. The monarch denounced her statement as a “public nuisance” with the potential to negatively influence young people.
While Mandy dismissed the claim as an obvious exaggeration, the controversy underscores wider concerns about the fine line between entertainment and misinformation in Nigeria’s fast-growing digital culture.
Meanwhile, Guinness World Records moved to distance itself from the issue, stressing that it does not monitor or recognize records related to sexual activity.
