The company which has remained moribund for long, was said to belong to the family of the late General Sani Abacha.

According to the Commissioner, the council, in a bid to bolster the industrialization thrust of the Engineer Abdullahi Sule led administration, indicated interest in the minerals processing firm in order to be able to add value to mineral resources found in the state, before exporting same to the world.

“The state council in session, took up a position and indicated interest to take over the Delta Prospectors Company in Lafia, so that the minerals will be processed in Nasarawa State before being taken outside,” Comrade Shammah stated.

Commenting further on the outcome of the meeting, he disclosed that members of the State Executive Council deliberated extensively on how best government will touch the lives of the people of the state, especially in the area of project execution, as well as providing security across the state.

Comrade Shammah further disclosed that the council has decided to terminate the contract awarded ten years ago for the construction of a government lodge in Kaduna, with work on the project coming to a standstill at 70 percent completion.

“The council in session revoked the contract and the remaining work will be carried out through direct labour by the state Ministry of Works,” the Commissioner said.

He used the moment to appeal to the people to accord government the necessary support in order for it to carry out its developmental strides, stressing that with the farming season fast approaching, there is need for cordial relationship between farmers and herdsmen.

“We appeal to citizens to be our brother’s keeper, maintain law and order at all time and support the government to fast track development,” Comrade Shammah stated.
