The ongoing strike/protest by the parliamentary worker seem to be gaining momentum as latest information reaching www.theajasanews desk has it that Retirees of the National Assembly and the Nigeria labour Congress, NLC would be joining the protest this Thursday.
According to a source who disclosed this to our correspondent she noted that the instruction was sent to all staff to gathered at the protest ground by 6am so as to receive the Retirees and the NLC members who would be joining them in the protest as they drive home their demand.
Explaining the rationele for the Retirees joining them in the protest, she noted that the former workers are also affected by the same things the the current staffs are agitating for which is basically improved condition of service.
She maintained that despite the issue of gratuity been captured by the MOU reached with the management on the improvement of the condition of workers of the National Assembly, none of them have received their gratiuty after retirement.
She lamented that both Retirees and current staff of the National Assembly are going through very difficult times after outrightly been denied their legitimate dues.
“People outside would be thinking that Staffs of the National Assembly are enjoying but the reality is that we are suffering. Everything that is due to us legitimately has not been given to us. And the management are eating fat. Haba! This is not good at all and this we must address, ”
The notice for Thursday gathering was forwarded to the staffs on their various Whatsapp groups. Most of the Whatsapp groups have been locked up by the admins to avoid the management penetrating them through some staff who are their agents who have the penchat to sow discord among them.
The notice of for Thursday Protest meeting read:
“THE NATIONAL LABOUR CONGRESS IN CONJUNCTION WITH PASAN DIRECTED THAT ALL STAFF INCLUDING RETIREES, GRADE LEVEL NOT WITHSTANDING ARE TO ASSEMBLE IN NASS GATE TOMORROW MORNING BY 6:00AM.* SIGNED: PASAN NATIONAL HQTRS”
