The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for extortion, emphasizing that enrollment for the National Identification Number (NIN) is free.

According to Kayode Adegoke, PhD, Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, neither the Commission nor its Front End Partners (FEP) are authorized to charge applicants for NIN enrollment ¹. To combat extortion, NIMC has directed security agencies to track and sanction any staff or FEPs found guilty of extorting applicants.

In cases of extortion, the public is advised to report incidents through email at customercare@nimc.gov.ng or by phone at 07002255646. NIMC assures its commitment to providing seamless enrollment services and eradicating extortion.

This move is part of NIMC’s efforts to maintain transparency and accountability in its operations, ensuring that Nigerians can access essential services without facing exploitation.
