The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Unit to drive its commitment to national development. This initiative aims to foster inclusive growth and sustainable impact in communities across the country.
The CSR Unit will spearhead programs under the “Customs Cares” initiative, focusing on key areas such as:
– *School Renovations*: Upgrading educational facilities to provide a better learning environment
– *Mobile Clinic Activations*: Providing medical aid and healthcare services to communities in need
– *Food and Medical Aid*: Offering support to vulnerable populations
– *Agricultural Support*: Enhancing agricultural productivity and food security
– *Skills Acquisition Programs*: Empowering individuals with skills and training for economic growth
– *Youth Empowerment*: Supporting youth development and engagement in nation-building efforts
These initiatives align with national development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing the NCS’s role as a socially responsible institution.
The NCS recognizes the importance of collaboration and is ready to work with government agencies, NGOs, private sector partners, and local communities to ensure the success of this project. The launch marks the beginning of a long-term commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, with structured programs to be implemented nationwide.
Under the leadership of Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the NCS remains dedicated to integrating social responsibility into its core operations. The “Customs Cares” initiative complements President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, strengthening community engagement and staff participation in nation-building efforts.
