Information reaching www.theajasanews.com has it that former Nigeria U-23 midfielder, Usman Mohammed has secured a lucrative contract with a Russian top division side, FC Tambov.
The club is currently in the Russian second division but will be playing in the top division next season as they have effectively secured promotion.
It is in view of this that the club is bringing in more experience player as they plan ahead toward their participation in the Russian top flight league next season. Apart from Usman, they have also secured the service of Ivorian striker, Mohammed Konate.
Currently, both Usman and Konate play for Armenian top club, FC Pyunik where they have helped the Armenian side to the top of the league with about three matches to go. They are hoping to sign off from there with the league trophy.
Usman Mohammed who marshaled the Nigeria Dream Team midfield during the Brazil Olympic where the team won a bronze has been over looked by the current technical crew of the Super Eagles. But with his new contract with the Russian club, he may be laying a strong claim to the Super Eagles midfield position in the nearest future.
You may want to recall that just few years ago, Usman was the toast of all the National team coaches as he received invitation to play for the U23, 20 and the senior National team under coach Sunday Oliseh almost at the same time.
But, the Sokoto born talented midfielder who once had a stint with Barcelona fc in Spain had not been so fortunate with his club career having moved from Spain to Norway, to Armenia. Luckily, Usman is now set to show the world how good he is when he eventually lace his booth for the Russian club next season.
