The much-anticipated Nigeria-Italy Investment Summit (NIIS) 2025, Rome Business Forum officially opened in Rome on Tuesday, drawing key stakeholders from both countries in a push to strengthen economic ties and promote sustainable investment.
The summit was declared open by the representative of the Charge d’Affaires of the Nigerian Embassy in Rome, Mr. Oluwaseyi Poroku, who welcomed participants and urged them to ensure that knowledge gained during the forum is put into practical use for economic growth.
He emphasized the importance of translating discussions and lessons from the summit into actionable ventures capable of positively impacting businesses and national development.
Members of the Nigerian community in Italy, business leaders, and other dignitaries also addressed attendees, delivering encouraging remarks on bilateral cooperation and investment potentials.
In his address, the organiser of the event and Managing Director of Giant Gee Nigeria Limited, Ambassador Augustine Chigbolu, applauded the enthusiasm shown by participants. He called on Italian investors to take full advantage of Nigeria’s expanding business climate, noting that the country offers vast opportunities across multiple sectors.
Italy’s business community should seize the opportunities available in Nigeria for mutually beneficial partnerships,” Chigbolu stated.
This year’s summit, themed “Sustainable Growth Strategies Beyond Boundaries,” will spotlight key economic sectors including agriculture and agribusiness, information technology and artificial intelligence, fashion and the creative industry, as well as clean and renewable energy.
The forum is expected to serve as a strategic platform to attract investment, foster innovation, and enhance sustainable economic collaboration between Nigeria and Italy.
The event continues with a technical session that will delve deeper into sector-specific opportunities and partnership frameworks as we hope the trapped intending participants still in Nigeria will make it to Rome.
