Nigerian Archery Federation Holds 2025 Annual General Meeting, Announces New Patrons and Championships

The Nigerian Archery Federation (NAFED) has held its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), marking a significant milestone in the federation’s journey. The event brought together distinguished colleagues, executive members, and guests to review the federation’s performance and chart a course for the future.

In his address, the President of the NAFED acknowledged the support of members, stakeholders, and partners, including the Nigeria Olympic Committee, World Archery Africa, and the World Archery. He highlighted the federation’s achievements, including the establishment of state archery associations and clubs across the country.

Some of the notable state archery associations established include Lagos, Kogi, FCT, Oyo, Osun, and Zamfara, among others. The federation has also recorded significant growth in the number of archery clubs and academies, with institutions like the Abuja Archery Academy, Lekki Archery Club, and Nigeria Police Archery Club.

The NAFED President also announced the appointment of six prominent Nigerians as patrons of the federation. They include Senator Babajide Omoworare, Major General G.S. Abdullahi, DIG Dr. Aisha A. Baju, Professor Musa Success, Dr. Obi Asika, and Chief Librous Oshomo.

Furthermore, the federation is set to organize the Chief of Defence Staff National Archery Championship and the Inspector General of Police National Archery Championship. The ICON ARCHERY CLUB OF ABUJA was also launched during the event.

The NAFED has come a long way since its inception, and the 2025 AGM marks a significant step forward in its journey. With the support of its patrons, stakeholders, and members, the federation is poised to take archery in Nigeria to new heights.

Speaking with our correspondent at the venue, the 1st vice President of the Federation, Ambassador Augustine Chigbolu expressed happiness with the new found peace achieved in the Federation, promising to give his support to the President to ensure that Nigeria Archery thrives.

“Now that the problems and crisis has been laid to rest and a vote of confidence has been passed on the Exco, we are now set to kickstart full time activities to promote Archery in Nigeria and beyond. We are going to take Archery outside this country, we are going to participate in international events. I will give my full support to the President Mohammed Abdullahi to make sure these events are realized,” he stated.
