Nigerian CDS strengthens defence ties with Slovakia

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of Nigeria, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, paid an official visit to the Slovak Ministry of Defence in Bratislava on May 23, 2025. He was warmly received by his Slovak counterpart, General Daniel Zmeko, and other senior officials.

During the visit, both leaders engaged in bilateral defence discussions, focusing on key areas such as military training, capacity building, and defence equipment acquisition. They also explored opportunities for technology transfer, innovation, and enhancing defence production capabilities.

The CDS and General Zmeko emphasized the need for deeper collaboration to address security challenges and improve military readiness. General Musa expressed appreciation for Slovakia’s support and highlighted opportunities for joint defence industrialization. General Zmeko commended Nigeria’s resilience and regional security leadership, pledging continued partnership between the two Nations

The visit marked a significant milestone in Nigeria-Slovak defence relations, paving the way for long-term strategic cooperation between the two countries.
