Nigerian striker, Leke James seems to be making a strong case to be invited to the Nigeria senior National team by scoring a brace in last weekend league match helping his club, Molde Fk win the Norwegian league title with two games to spare.
With this, Leke has grabbed his first-ever league title in Europe after his club trounced Stromsgodset 4-0 in a Norwegian league game.
Molde are now champions with 62 points in 28 games, an unassailable 11 points more than closest rival Bodoe/Glimt. It was Molde’s fourth league crown.
The 27-year-old forward scored his first goal of the game in the 74th minute to give his club a 3-0 goal lead.
He sealed the victory and the league title for Molde FK with his second goal of the game which came in the 81st minute.
James has now scored a total of 19 goals with 15 in the league and four in UEFA Europa League.
He said, “It’s a great feeling, Victory is always sweet. I’m always looking forward to scoring more goals and doing better than my previous seasons, and hopefully win more trophies.”
Asked how he was able to rediscover his form and kept firing as always, the Nigerian-born star said, “It’s simply God’s grace, hard work and self-belief. It was a great experience for me to play in another continent with different culture. It is a nice experience.
“With the help of my lovely family that supported me mentally and of course my fans, who sent me messages of encouragement and talked to me, I was able to carry on after some injury set back. I’m now targeting to play in the best of the leagues globally, and of course my country’s senior national team Super Eagles.”
