……..Warns of Arrest, Deportation, and Entry Bans for Defaulters
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the commencement of a Post-Amnesty Voluntary Return and Documentation Programme (PAVRDP) for foreign nationals who failed to regularize their immigration status during the Expired Visa Amnesty period, which ended on September 30, 2025.
According to a public notice issued on Friday and signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the programme will officially begin on October 13, 2025, and will provide a final opportunity for affected foreigners to report to the nearest Immigration Command for registration and documentation.
The NIS stated that each case will be treated individually, with officers assessing personal circumstances to determine appropriate actions in line with the Immigration Act, 2015 and related regulations.
However, the Service warned that any foreigner who has violated visa conditions and fails to report voluntarily will face arrest, detention, and removal from Nigeria, in addition to a long-term entry ban.
The statement also cautioned individuals, companies, and organizations against aiding or harbouring illegal immigrants, stressing that such actions constitute offenses under Nigerian law and are punishable by prosecution.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to promoting humane, seamless and orderly migration, ensuring compliance with extant immigration laws, and strengthening national security through effective migration management,” Akinlabi said.
The NIS advised all concerned persons to take advantage of the new window to regularize their stay or face the full weight of the law.
