The Nigerian Silent Heroes Awards (NSHA) has announced the opening of nominations for its 7th edition. The awards, which recognize outstanding contributions to humanity, are open to individuals and institutions in various categories, including Policing and Intelligence, Human Rights Advocacy, Journalism, and Business and Enterprise.
Since its inception in 2019, the NSHA has honored over 200 individuals and institutions for their selfless contributions to society. Past recipients include notable personalities such as Prof. Muhammadu Shafi’u Abdullahi, Assistant Commissioner of Police Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and Dr. Awele Elumelu.
The awards are given on merit, with no strings attached, and are designed to recognize hard work, humility, and outstanding achievements. The organizers aim to redefine the concept of awards in Nigeria, emphasizing that recognition should be based on individual merits rather than pecuniary status.
This year’s edition promises to improve on previous years, with a lecture theme of “The Power of Selflessness.” The event will take place in Abuja, and nominations are open to all Nigerians.
The NSHA is an initiative of Dr. Odita Sunday-Udemagwuna, a seasoned journalist and defense correspondent. The awards have gained recognition for their transparency and credibility, and are seen as a unique opportunity to recognize and honor silent achievers in Nigerian society.
