NYG: Athletes facing tough time in Ilorin, sleeping under trees (see pictures)

Things are really not going well with most of the states Contigents to this year’s National Youths Games, NYG as up till this moment the organizers have not provided accommodations for them.

The unfortunate situation has led to the young lads sleeping under trees while waiting for the organizers to sort out the accommodation for them.

Speaking with our correspondent one of the state officials who obviosly did not want the name on print lamented the condition the young athletes have been made to face in the name of participating in a tournament.

The official stated further that since their arrival they have been sleeping under the trees as the university where they normally camp is still been inhabited by the students who are still in session.

“I want to tell you that since we have been coming for this youth games this is the worst we have experienced. No proper arrengment by the organizers and the young girls and boys may be exposed to maleria as a result of mosquito bites.

“I just wish they find a solution to this situation on time because if it continue like this for say another two days we will not have athletes to compete because they will all be sick,” the official stated.

You may want to recall that the games has suffered some postpoment due to some logistics problem by the organizers. The Game is now schedule to commence on October 15 as against the initial date of 10th.
