Okowa hands automatic employment to golf sensation, Chinwe Obuaya

The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, DSSC, Chief Tonobok Okowa has assured that the State will continue to encourage it’s athletes to go for the top.

Chief Okowa stated this after handing golf sensation Miss Chinwe Obuaya an automatic employment as a programmed athlete. Chief Okowa said Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was committed to giving every Deltan the needed support to attain the heights in whatever meaningful endeavour they found themselves.

He said that the State would not abandon its athletes but will encourage them to seek to be the best wherever they found themselves. He called on Miss Obuaya not to derail in her development in golf saying the State would give her the push needed to take her to the international scene.

The Sports Commission Chairman also handed Miss Obuaya a new golf bag to enhance her game.

Speaking earlier a Member of the Delta State Sports Commission Reverend Omatsola Williams said Miss Obuaya was being rewarded for bringing laurels and honour to Delta State after winning two gold and one silver medal at the National Youth Games in Ilorin.

The former Lady Captain of the Ibori Golf and Country Club Asaba, said Miss Obuaya had also represented Nigeria at various international events where she finished third at the International Youth Golf Championship in Saint Andrews Ireland among others.

The Director of Nigeria Golf Federation commended Governor Okowa for his sustained investment in the sports sector and called on firms and we’ll placed individuals to support government in the area.

The elated Miss Obuaya thanked God for the promotion and lauded Governor Okowa and the Chairman of the State Sports Commission for remembering her and assured that she would not disappoint the state in future events.

Present on the occasion was the Director General of the Sports Commission Sir Chris Anazia and other top management staff of the Commission.
