Ahead of the 2023 governorship election in Rivers State, political players in the two major parties in the State are already working underground to win the State for their political parties.

While the current State Governor, Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party is working to retain his political relevance in the State after leaving office in 2023, the former Governor of the State and Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi, of the All Progressives Congress is also working to end PDP’s dominance in the State.

However, available indicators have shown that the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi may likely end PDP’s dominance in Rivers State because of one smart move he has taken ahead of the 2023 elections in the State.

Amaechi Is Strengthening APC In Rivers By Winning PDP Chieftains Into The Party

Amaechi has already started preparing for the 2023 elections in Rivers State by strengthening the Rivers State chapter of APC to end PDP dominance in the State.

As the leader of APC in Rivers State, Amaechi has continued to win chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party to the fold of the All Progressives Congress which may help the party in the 2023 general elections in the State.

Recall that the Rivers State House of Representatives member, representing Etche and Omuma federal constituency, Chief Ephraim Nwuzi, dumped PDP for APC.

The Rivers State APC was also able to convince four chieftains of PDP; Hon. Dumka Philip Rojas, Hon. Lekia Nwanikpo, Hon. Dumb Pete Obegu and Hon. Dum Ntor-ue, to decamp to the party.

The chieftains of PDP who defected with their supporters were received into the fold of APC on behalf of Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Ameachi, by Engr Chukwudi Dimkpa, an APC chieftain in Rivers.

A report by Premium Times showed that the Rivers State chapter of APC has received another chieftain of PDP to APC.

According to the report, the lawmaker representing Eleme/Tai and/Oyigbo federal constituency, Chisom Dike, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress.

As Ameachi continued to win influential political players in PDP to APC in Rivers State, it may likely help the party to end PDP’s dominance in the state in 2023.

Recall that those that are joining the APC will influence other political players and power brokers in the State to join the party and work for the success of APC in 2023. They are also coming into APC with their supporters.
