Onnoghen asks CCT to quash charges against him

As the trial against the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen resumed this Monday at Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) , the embattled former Chief Justice requested that the charges against him be quashed.

Onnoghen said the reason is to allow the National Judicial Council (NJC) to deal with the issue. He further asked the Chairman of the Tribunal, Danladi Umar, and another member of the tribunal to rescue themselves from his trial.

The Federal Government had in the charge marked CCT/ABJ/01/2019, alleged that Onnoghen failed to declare his assets as prescribed by law, and maintained foreign bank accounts.
