The Commander of 17 Brigade, Brigadier General B.O. Omopariola has disclosed that 17 Brigade under his command has achieved huge successes in restoring peace in Katsina State.
Brigadier general Omopariola made the disclosure during an on-the-spot assessment visit of a team of defence correspondent led by Group Captain Ibrahim Bukar.
While briefing the team of Defense correspondents Brigadier General Omopariola noted that since it’s establishment in 2016 the Brigade has conducted several operations that contributed to the degradation of terrorist activities in Katsina State.
He said the Brigade has also dominated its Area of Responsibility, ensuring a secure environment for locals to carry out their socio-economic activities without fear of threats.
Irrespective of some challenges which include an acute shortage of manpower and limited operational resources Brigadier General Omopariola noted that the Brigade has continually conducted operations across the 34 local governments in Katsina State and its adjoining states to curtail the activities of terrorists.
He added that the operations have resulted in the neutralization of many terrorists, the destruction of their camps, the recovery of weapons, and the rescue of kidnapped victims.
