Poland’s secret service has arrested another suspected Russian agent who had been spying on military sites and ports, Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński wrote on Twitter on Monday.
This is the 15th arrest in the investigation into a Russian spy ring in Poland.
The prosecutor’s office said the suspect was a Ukrainian citizen who had been living in Poland since 2019.
According to Kamiński, he was regularly paid by the Russians for his activities.
The prosecutor’s office is now investigating him for membership in a criminal organisation and working for a foreign intelligence service to the detriment of Poland.
At the end of June, Poland’s secret service arrested a Russian professional ice hockey player who was also allegedly a member of the spy network.
Among other things, the group is said to have spied on the Polish railway network.
Poland, a member of the European Union and NATO, is the most important hub for the delivery of Western military aid to Ukraine, which has been defending itself against a full-scale Russian invasion for some 16 months.
