Zamfara State Government, has directed security agents in the state to ‘shoot on sight’ motorcycles carrying more than two persons.
The directive was given by the state governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle in a special broadcast.
According to him, the decision was reached during the state’s security council meeting aimed at curtailing the growing activities of bandits.
He went on to note that motorcycles and tricycles are to operate in Gusau the state capital between 6 am to 8 pm, and 6 am to 6 pm in other parts of the state.
Speaking on other measures put in place to curtail insecurity, the governor said the state government has suspended all weekly markets across the 14 local government areas.
While noting that transporting of firewood and timber from the forests and transporting of cattle to or from the state is now prohibited, Matawalle added that all filling stations are to sell fuel of not more than ten thousand naira only to commercial and private cars.
He further stated that the movement of food items and other consumables will be thoroughly checked to avoid the risk of supplying them to bandits and directed security agencies in the state to ensure compliance with the new measures taken.
