In a significant stride toward enhancing Nigerian football, Hon. Magaji Alhasan, Senior Legislative Aide to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, has officially launched the inaugural NFF President Preseason Cup for NNL (National League) clubs. The tournament is designed to revitalize and strengthen the competitiveness of the second division of Nigerian football, while also boosting the profile of football in Kaduna State.
The competition’s trophy was ceremoniously presented to NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau at the Glass House, in a remarkable display of leadership and collaboration. Gusau commended Hon. Alhasan for his vision and leadership, praising his efforts in spearheading the organizing committee. He further acknowledged Alhasan’s unwavering commitment to the growth of football in Nigeria, stressing that the Senior Legislative Aide remains a key pillar in the nation’s football development.
The NFF President Preseason Cup, which is set to run from November 12 to 20, 2024, at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, will feature competitive matches aimed at preparing NNL clubs for the upcoming season. The competition is backed by key stakeholders as members of the organizing committee, including the Kaduna State Football Association, and major sponsor, Babs Integrated Services, whose President, Tijani Babangida MON, was also present at the trophy presentation.
Hon. Alhasan and his team of football technocrats have made strides in shaping the competition, which aims not only to elevate the profile of the Nigerian National League but also to bring a resurgence of football passion to Kaduna State.
The initiative is already being hailed as a game-changer for Nigerian football, with hopes that it will create a pathway to greater international recognition and opportunities for local talents, as it is going to be an annual tournament, creating everlasting historic moments.
