Public Complaint Commission Backs Anti Corruption Marathon

The Public Complaint Commission (PCC) has joined the numerous organisations that have pitched tents with the organizers of the Anti Corruption Marathon race aimed at using sports to fight corruption in Nigeria.

The Chief Commissioner, Hon Barr Chille W. Igbawua while declaring the Commission’s total support for the annual event said the organizers were apt with the decision to employ sports in general and marathon in particular to fight corruption which has remained the bane of Nigeria’s development.

Making this assertion during a courtesy visit by a team of Fair Play Sports Consultancy International led by its Chairman /CEO Jacob Onu to his office, Hon Chief Igbawua said the Commission has joined the numerous anti corruption bodies to identify with the annual sporting event because of vantage position as a tool to fight corruption.

He noted that the PCC is a natural collaborator in the war against corruption being one of the numerous bodies fighting corruption and added that they are not too loud with their achievements but would let Nigerians know that they take the corruption war even to the grassroots. Commending the organizers he said,

“Your job is a difficult one but you have made a good choice by using sports to fight corruption because Nigerians love sports and will willingly join in the fight. Secondly you chose marathon which makes a very formidable statement signifying that corruption is not a hundred metre race.”

The Chief Commissioner urged Nigerians to participate in the fight against corruption by participating in the Anti Corruption Marathon as well as feel free to report every corrupt practices to the Commission and assured them of protection. Chairman /CEO of Fair Play Sports Consultancy International Onu disclosed that the Anti Corruption Marathon race is Key in the President’s war against corruption which is a cancer hindering the country from moving to the next level.

While rehearsing President Muhammadu Buhari’s speech “If we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill us” Onu said “We want to use the marathon race to fight corruption and strengthen unity among the citizenry.”

He also noted that the intention is to use marathon create awareness among the citizens on the evil corruption has done this country and join forces with President Buhari to take this cancer out of our life and everyday activities hence the fight against corruption is a national assignment.
