The failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar has forced embattled Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick to jettison his hidden ambition to run for a 3rd term.
Though Pinnick had not categorically come out to declare his intention to run for a 3rd but the body language has been written all over the places, with his supporters and his ‘e-warriors’ bombarding the social media space with call on him to contest.
Recently, some groups immediately after the Super Eagles ill fated match against the Black Stars even organized a press conferences where they made demand on the Delta State born football administrator to come out to contest.
Well, all that seems to have been put to rest as, Amaju himself speaking on Arise TV on Friday, stated that he would not be going for a 3rd term. He hinged his reason for throwing in the towel on family pressure, noting that his family is not too disposed to him re-contesting.
“I am eligible to run base on the status. Do I want to run ?, It’s a no no, my family is very key to me , they said it’s taking a toll on me and the family. They believed that I’ve done my best and it’s time to move on . It’s a regrettable decision, but it’s the best “.
The Super Eagles failure to qualify for Qatar dealt a major blow on his hidden ambition, as several stakeholders have capitalized on that to put pressure on him to resign or at most jettison his ambition to re-contest for a 3rd term.
