One of the youngest House of Representative member of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in the 12th Assembly, Tajudeen Adeyemi Adefisoye has declared that despite the slow start of Team Nigeria in winning medals at the ongoing 12th Africa Games in Rabat, they certainly will be in a good position on the medal table by the end of the Games.
Speaking exclusively with www.theajasanews.com in Rabat, Small Alhaji as he is popularly called by his admirers noted that he had observed that most of the Games that Team Nigeria had contested in so far are Games that they do not have comparative advantage.
He argued that very soon the medals would begin to flow in when they enter into areas where Nigerians are very strong.
The House Committee on Sports member who has been visiting the various venues to see things for himself expressed confidence in their ability to turn the table around on the countries that have jumped so quickly jumped to the lead on the medal table.
“Since i arrived Rabat, i have been going round to see things for myself. What i can tell you is that things would soon get better. I have been to Casablanca, and i have also watched the Flying Eagles here in Rabat. Yes, some have not done well but i can tell you that it is just a matter of time before the medals start rolling in,” he said.
The House member was among the few Nigerians that cheered the Nigeria Flying Eagles to victory when they defeated the South Africans 2-1 to brighten their chance of progressing to the next round of the Games.
Speaking after the Games he said the team did so well to hold on to the victory stressing that the South Africans did not really put up a very great fight as he had expected.
“I just want to charge the Flying Eagles not to be carried away by the victory. There is still so much work to do in the team if they are to win the gold medal of the Games. But it was a good victory against a country that always sees Nigeria as a rival,’ he concluded.
