Rohr moves to rescue U-23 team, drafts top Super Eagles players to assist

In a bid to ensure the Nation’s U-23 team upturn the 0-2 score line suffered in the hand of the Libyan in the first leg match of the U-23 AFCON qualifiers played in Tunisia few days ago, the Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles, Genort Rohr has released four more of his players who are still within the age bracket to join the team in preparation for the second leg encounter due to be played at the Stephen Keshi stadium, Asaba, Delta state on Monday.

The players include Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, Sporting Charleroi of Belgium striker Victor Osimhen, Caykur Rizespor central defender Chidozie Awaziem and Eagles defender who is also the U-20 World Cup bound Flying Eagles team captain Valentine Ozomwafor.

Team Captain Azubuike Okechukwu and Sam Chukwueze now made the total six Eagles players that have now been drafted to save the Olympic Eagles from crashing out of U-23 AFCON qualifier and they have swiftly reported to the coach Imama Akpakabor led team already training in Asaba.

Speaking with www.theajasanews.com[1] on the reason for his action, Rohr explained that he is particularly concern about the team making it all the way to Tokyo 2020, more so that it his way of assisting the coach who is one of his assistant in the Super Eagles team.

“We have six Super Eagles players that are eligible to play in the competition teaming up with the U-23 team now. Right now we are training at the Asaba Stadium with all the six players that have joined the others in the team.

“Tomorrow too they will train twice and they will be ready for the Libya game. You know that they also trained this morning (making four training sessions)”, Rohr disclosed
