The Federal Ministry of Education has disowned a press release circulating on multiple social media platforms insinuating that schools will reopen in November 2020, describing the release as the handiwork of mischief makers.
A statement by the Ministry said that they have observed this growing pattern of false and malicious publications against it over time, which appears to be coming from the same source. “We are making efforts to track and handover such hirings to security Agencies for prosecution.
“In the meantime, the ministry is asking parents and students at all levels of our educational system to disregard the release in its entirety as there’s no iota of truth in the release.
“The Permanent Secretary has not granted any interview to Premium Times or any other media house in this regard, neither has the Hon Minister issued any release on the subject matter.
“The use of the Ministry’s letter headed is a clear case of forgery. The purported signature of the Minister on the release is also forged .
“The content of the release is contradictory and incoherent, leaving the Ministry to wonder what the actual motive of the author is or what he intends to achieve. This release superceds the earlier version,” the statement concluded.
