A security awareness campaign was held for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Benue State, with Major Ayo Omojokun representing General Musa Christopher. The campaign aimed to promote security awareness, national development, and unity among the corps members.

The security awareness campaign organized by the Defence Headquarters for corps members emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining national security, urging corps members to be vigilant and report suspicious activities. The representative highlighted the need to combat misinformation and fake news, particularly on social media, and encouraged corps members to serve as agents of truth.

The campaign also focused on civil-military cooperation, emphasizing the role of the military in community support and development. Corps members were encouraged to promote unity, report security concerns, and educate their peers on the importance of national security.

The event concluded with a call to action, urging corps members to be media-smart, avoid spreading unverified claims, and promote positive storytelling. The representative also highlighted career opportunities in the armed forces and encouraged graduates to consider serving the nation through structured and honorable means.

The security awareness campaign is part of efforts to promote mutual trust and understanding between the military and civilian youth population, and to empower corps members to play an active role in promoting peace and unity in their communities.

Meanwhile, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Benue State camp director, Mr. Edwin Ughanze, also highlighted the measures taken by the organization to ensure the security of corps members serving in the state. Ughanze noted that NYSC has a policy of not posting corps members to areas that are deemed insecure.

Ughanze emphasized that the camp takes security seriously, with thorough searches conducted on visitors and a strong security presence, including soldiers, police, and DSS personnel. He noted that the security lectures and tips distributed to corps members have been beneficial, and that the Defence Headquarters’ security awareness campaign would further enrich their knowledge.

The camp director expressed appreciation for the initiative, stating that it would serve as a refresher for corps members on security matters. He assured that the camp would continue to prioritize the safety and security of corps members.
