Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is a pain reliever and also an analgesic (fever relieving) drug of which the exact mechanism of action is not unknown.

Paracetamol is used to treat many conditions such as headache, muscle aches, arthritis, backache, toothaches, colds, and fever inclusive.

It is a fact there is no drug without accompanying side effects. Examples of such signs of an allergic reaction to paracetamol are hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

A call for medical attention would be made if any of the following side effects are noticed:

– bloody or black, tarry stools

– bloody or cloudy urine

– pinpoint red spots on the skin

– skin rashes and itching

– sore throat ( if not present before treatment and not caused by the condition being treated)

– sores ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth

– a sudden decrease in the amount of urine

– yellowish eyes or skin (jaundice)

Remember, this is not a complete list of paracetamol side effects and others may occur
