Magdaline Inji has won Team Nasarawa’s first medal after four fights in the on going 9th National Youth games in Asaba Delta State.
The National Youth games runs from August 26- 6 September 2025 in Asaba Delta State.
The 15-year-old defeated Enugu’s Favor Kalu in the bronze medal match 5-1. Earlier, Magdaline Inji defeated her counterparts from Akwa Ibom 1-0 and Ondo 3-0, but lost 1-2 to her Cross River counterpart in the semifinals before defeating her Enugu counterpart to win bronze.
Reacting, Magdaline Inji said, “It feels nice winning, and I want to be a karate champion in the future. I also want to thank the Nasarawa State Government, my coaches, and my parents.”
On his part, Coach Dennis Ejim said, “It’s a thing of joy winning the first medal for the state, and I believe my other athletes will bring in more medals.”
Meanwhile, Alexander Danjuma will be fighting in the boys’ -50kg category later today.
