The National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballer, NANPF led by former Super Eagles winger, Tijani Babaginda has promised to secure the release of the outstanding allowances owed late Douglas Uzama by the Nigeria Football Federation.
NANPF made this promise when the president led a delegation to the late player’s home in Edo state on Friday. On arrival at the home, the delegation met with the late player’s father who is currently taking care of the only child.
According to the Union General asecretary, Austin Popo, he noted that the late former U-20 player is owed about four hundred thousand Naira by the Nigeria Football Federation while also noting that an approval for the release of $4000 owed him had already been given by the NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, but laments that the money is yet to be paid to the family.
Popo stated that the Union decided to visit the family when they heard that the son, Douglas junior was down with an ailment that needed urgent surgery.
And while in the late player’s house, NANPF president, Tijani Babaginda assured the father that they would do everything within their power to assist with the treatment of the little boy, while also declaring that the Association will continue to pester the leadership of the Nigeria Football Frderation to ensure all monies owed the late player which were the camping and match allowances is paid.
The Association then made a goodwil donation to the family to help begin the process of the treatment of the little boy with the promise to do more.
NANPF also used the opportunity of their visit to Benin to pay a courtesy call on the palace of HRH Prince Edun Akenzua MFR , the Enogie (Duke) of Obazuwa, a former Nigeria player.
The Chief had in 2016 donated a piece of Land for the development of the Nigeria Footballers Village and a Football and Vocational training Centre in Obazuwa in memory of late Stephen Keshi.
The new executive of the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers deemed it so important to accord the High Chief the desired respect with the visit and to assure him of their desire to commence development at the certer in ernest.
NANPF stressed that the issue of the Stephen Keshi Football and Vocational training Centre was part of the president agenda when he travelled to Europe as he had meaningful discussion with potential investors.
