As English premiership side, Tottenham Hotspur fc is gearing up to upturn the 0-1 lose to Ajax football club in the first leg of the Uefa Champions league played in London last week, former Ajax winger, Tijani Babangida has declared that the London side will definitely not survive the second leg in Amsterdam.
Speaking exclusively with www.theajasanews.com, Tijani noted that Tottenham made the mistake of allowing Ajax to beat them at their backyard in the first leg, advising the London based team to not waste their energy but to begin preparation for the next edition.
“You will see what those boys would do with Tottenham in the second leg. Those small boys do not respect anybody and i assure you that they will progress to the next round,”
Baba as he was called in his playing days in Ajax attributed the good work done in the new resurgent Ajax to the former Arsenal greats; Edwin Van Dar Sa, Denny Blind and Marc Overmars.
He maintained that their good work in the team began manifesting two years ago when they narrowly lost to Manchester United in the final of the Europa cup.
“These are the men behind what we are seeing today in the team. I have called my friends in Holland and everybody is talking about these team. We are expecting them to get to the final and possibly meet Barcelona,”
Tijani Babangida predicts that a final between Ajax and Barcelona will be a delight to watch considering the way the two side play their football, but he maintained that Ajax has what it takes to surprise the Spanish giant.
“Me, i see Ajax beating Baca in the final, that is if they meet. The only problem they will have to cope with is that boy called Messi. He is the major difference in Barcelona and he alone can decide a match. But let us wait till then,” he said.
The former Nigerian international noted that he will be a very happy man to see Ajax go all the way to winning the trophy.
