Some traditional rulers in the South West have blamed politicians for engaging the youths in thuggery during electioneering period and processes, hinging the recent hijack of the #EndSARS protest on activities of political thugs.

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, stated this at the South West Stakeholders meeting at the Lagos House in Alausa, Ikeja.

Oba Adeyemi noted that only two  per cent of graduates are employed annually, while the remaining 98 per cent remain idle and become a threat to the society.

He said until there was true federalism in the country, the problem of insecurity would continue unabated.

On his part, the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, who spoke for the first time after the attack on his palace, said he prayed God to forgive his attackers.

Oba Akiolu, who identified unemployment and insecurity as the major problems of Lagos, advocated State Police and better welfare package and meaningful engagement with the youths.

The Chairman Council of Obas in Ekiti, the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Alabi, called for a Legislative bill on South West Developmental Agenda, to restore the lost glory of Lagos, stating that the attack on Lagos was aimed at destroying the economic hub of the South West.

The Oba of Ilawe alsi called on the Federal Government to readdress the issue of border closure, stating that those who earn their means of living through that channel have been rendered jobless and restless.
