Troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2 have recorded major successes in Zamfara State, neutralising six terrorists, rescuing a kidnapped underage victim and dismantling several terrorist camps during a fierce offensive in Sububu Forest, Maradun Local Government Area.
The operation, aimed at flushing out terrorist enclaves and restoring peace to the state, began with a targeted engagement at Indulumu village, where troops confronted armed elements and neutralised two terrorists. An AK-47 rifle was recovered during the encounter.
Buoyed by the initial success, the Strike Force advanced to Ruduno village, where they met further resistance. In the ensuing firefight, four additional terrorists were neutralised. Troops recovered another AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, while two motorcycles used by the terrorists for mobility and logistics were destroyed at the scene.
In a significant humanitarian breakthrough, the troops also rescued a kidnapped underage girl, Halira Ibrahim, as they pushed deeper into the forest. Her rescue ended her captivity and brought relief to the affected community, highlighting the military’s commitment to protecting vulnerable civilians and combating kidnapping.
The operation further led to the destruction of multiple terrorist camps and life-support structures in Magaji, Galakaje, Filinga and Kukatara, severely disrupting the criminals’ ability to regroup and sustain operations.
Captain David Adewusi, Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, said the offensive forms part of sustained efforts to deny terrorists safe havens and restore lasting peace across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
He reaffirmed the resolve of the Armed Forces to continue aggressive operations against terrorists and bandits, while urging residents to support security agencies with timely and credible information.
