A Karu Upper Area Court in Abuja on Wednesday sentenced a 26-year-old unemployed man, Godwin Joseph, to 17 months imprisonment for stealing a laptop and an IPad.
The judge, Ishaq Hassan, who did not give the convict an option of fine, rather warned him to desist from committing crimes.
The convict, who pleaded guilty to housebreaking and theft, begged for mercy.
Olarewaju Osho, the Prosecution counsel had told the court that the complainant, Victor Adagba reported the matter at the Durumi Police Station on Dec. 24.
Osho said the convict broke into the complainant’s apartment through the window and stole his laptop worth N150,000 and Samsung iPad, worth N180,000.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 347 and 287 of the Penal Code
