Some days ago, a student of UNILORIN, Salaudeen Waliu Aanuoluwa, reportedly attacked one of the school’s staff identified as Mrs Rahmat Zakariyau. According to the student, she was his SIWES supervisor.
On Salaudeen’s account, he couldn’t complete his SIWES program because he was locked up in Lagos for two months after being falsely accused of trying to steal. When he approached Mrs Rahmat Zakariyau in her office to help him wave his mandatory SIWES Scheme, she said there was nothing she could do, and he started hitting her after she threw a mug at him while they were arguing.
However, Mrs Rahmat Zakariyau’s account of the incident is different from what Salaudeen Aanuoluwa gave.
1. The reason why he didn’t complete his SIWES program.
Salaudeen Aanuoluwa said that he was arrested in Lagos, hence the reason for not being able to complete his SIWES scheme. On the lecturer’s account, Salaudeen told her that he was ill, so he couldn’t complete his SIWES. However, she asked him to get his medical report and take it to where he did his SIWES to show that he was truly ill, that they might show him compassion and clear the remaining parts of his logbook.
2. Throwing a mug at him
She stated that she never threw a mug at him. Some days after she asked him to take his medical report to where he was supposed to do his SIWES, he barged into her office and started shouting and banging her table, before hitting her severally with his fist.
Since their stories do not match, it needs proper investigations, I believe the police will do a good job.
