….DECLARES NATIONAL SECURITY EMERGENCY, ORDERS MASS RECRUITMENT INTO ARMY, POLICE

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a stern warning to the Armed Forces, insisting that there must be no compromise, collusion, or negligence in ongoing security operations across the country.

Speaking in a statement personally signed by him on Wednesday, the President declared that Nigerians are losing patience with persistent insecurity and demanded absolute professionalism and loyalty from the military and other security agencies.

“There must be no compromise, no collusion, and no negligence,” Tinubu cautioned. “The Nigerian people are counting on you, and this administration will provide the support you need to succeed.”

The warning comes amid widespread public concerns over alleged insider collaboration, operational failures, and intelligence leaks that have undermined efforts to tackle terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.

Tinubu declared a nationwide security emergency and ordered the military and police to recruit additional personnel to strengthen operations, particularly in high-risk areas. The police were directed to recruit 20,000 more officers, raising the ongoing recruitment to 50,000, while the army and other forces will also expand their ranks.

He further approved the use of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camps as temporary police training depots and directed that officers withdrawn from VIP protection duties undergo crash retraining before deployment to frontline operations.

The President also authorized the Department of State Services (DSS) to deploy trained forest guards and recruit more personnel to flush out terrorists and bandits hiding in forests.

Tinubu commended security agencies for recent rescues, including 24 schoolgirls in Kebbi and 38 worshippers in Kwara, but stressed that such successes must be sustained without internal sabotage.

He reminded the military leadership that the nation expects results and accountability.

“This is a challenging moment for our nation and for the military institution itself,” he said. “Remain resolute, restore peace, and uphold the highest standards of discipline and integrity.”

Tinubu assured that his administration will provide all necessary support but emphasized that the fight against insecurity requires loyalty, coordination, and zero tolerance for misconduct within the ranks.

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, saying, “We are in this fight together, and together we shall win.”
