We will revamp health service in Benue- CMB BSUTH

Chief Medical Director, Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, Dr. Stephen Hwande has promised Benue citizens the best and affordable medical services they deserved under the Governor Alias’ Administration.

He made this known to newsmen on Tuesday after taking a facility tour of the Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital, MakurdiĀ  in preparatory to commencement of services.

Dr. Hwande expressed appreciation to Governor Hyacinth Alia for his interest in the healthy wellbeing of Benue people, pointing out that his proactiveness was the reason why the Federal Government did not take back the hospital from the State Government due to under utilization.

The Chief Medical Director said with full commencement, services such as IVF, out patients, health insurance, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology as well as mild surgery would be offered to the people at a rate that could be afforded by the common man, saying antenatal cards and for children under five would be free.

He said even though the primary role of the Teaching Hospital is at the tertiary level, the hospital would still use the enough manpower it’s has to supervise and assist secondary and primary health facilities across the state with to improve the health condition of the state

He disclosed father that expired medicines worth over one hundred million naira are to be publicly destroyed by the management of Benue State University Teaching Hospital, BSUTH.

The Chief Medical Director, who said the public destruction of the expired medicines was necessary for him to start on a clean slate expressed worry why medicines of such amount would be allowed to expire in a state that has so many IDPs and others that needed them.

The Coordinator of the Hospital, Dr. Luper Uva stated that although the hospital was built for only women and children, the new Chief Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Hwande thought it wise to add a general outpatients department to enable men also to get treatment at theĀ  facility.

Dr. Uva thanked the Chief Medical Director for ensuring that the hospital operates as an electronic medical record facility which would make services efficient and easier.

“We have solar systems where uninterrupted light ,water and other facilities operates all day”.

He also thanked the governor for his concern on the health of citizens.

The 120bed Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital was built by OSSAP-SDGs, Abuja 2021 Sustainable Project.
