“Where Are the Kidnappers?” — Falz Demands Answers After Rescue of Kwara Worshippers

Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has challenged the Federal Government and security agencies to provide clear answers on the fate of the abductors behind the recent kidnappings in Kwara and Niger States, insisting that it is not enough to simply announce the rescue of victims without details on arrests or neutralisation of the attackers.

Reacting on Sunday through his X account, Falz questioned the credibility of the rescue operation involving the 38 worshippers abducted from Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

He demanded to know whether any members of the armed gang responsible for the attack were apprehended.

“THIS DOES NOT CUT IT. Where are the abductors?? Were they killed? How many arrests were made???”

His reaction came shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced that all 38 abducted worshippers had been freed, along with 51 students taken from St. Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri, in Niger State. The president, who reportedly cancelled his trip to the G20 summit in South Africa to coordinate security efforts, praised the military for the successful rescues.

“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued… I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State have been recovered,”
President Tinubu said in a statement.

While commending the freedom of the victims, Falz argued that Nigerians deserve transparency on what became of the kidnappers who carried out the attacks. According to him, rescue without accountability only emboldens criminal networks.

Falz’s latest criticism follows his earlier call for President Tinubu’s resignation, accusing him of failing in his constitutional duty to protect citizens after the violent raid on the Eruku church. He described the government’s response as slow, weak, and unacceptable.

Security agencies, however, have not released any information on whether the kidnappers were arrested, neutralised, or escaped during the rescue operations in both states.
