Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has asked why is Google referring to Nigeria as a a zoo. The activist was surprise to see Nigeria as a top result when he made a search with some keywords on Google.
It has been observed in recent times that when a search is made on Google with keywords like ‘country and zoo’, Nigeria will come out as the first search result.
Reacting to this, the former spokesperson to Goodluck Jonathan, asked why Google will refer to Nigeria as a zoo.
“Why Does Google Refer To Nigeria As a Zoo? We Are Not a Zoo” – Reno Omokri quizzed.
What you should know
It is not Google that called Nigeria a zoo. The search result came up as a result of the statements that were made by the captured leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and his followers.
Nnamdi Kanu and his followers have been openly insulting Nigeria by saying that the country is a zoo, this has always been published by popular websites in Nigeria.
As a result of this, Google robots will bring out these websites whenever a search is made with such keywords like ‘google which country is a zoo’.
The results presented are posts from Nigerian websites that reported the news about Nigeria being called a zoo by Nnamdi Kanu and his followers. The results are based on the mentions and also based on the geographical location of the person making the search.
If someone in the US makes the same search, he or she will not get the same result. So the result presented is because of the keywords and the location of the person making the search.
It does not in anyway mean that Nigeria is a zoo or the Google is referring to Nigeria as a zoo, the results presented are reports and posts made by Nigerian websites with regards to the keyword.
