……TASKS WORLD POWERS TO RESOLUTE STAND AGAINST IT

By Martin Odiete, Abuja

The Nigeria Youth Organisation (NYO), has enjoined World Powers to advocate against Xenophobic attacks on other Africans by the South African and Ghanaian people on majority of business men and women, who have lost tremendous lives and properties and still at risk of further imminent attacks.

NYO also charged the World Powers, especially in the Global North to consider equitable exchange of Technological know-how, as panacea for World Peace and Security.

This charge by Nigeria’s formidable Non-Governmental Youth outfit, was contained in a statement, issued by its President, Hon. Abdullahi Wali, and Secretary General, Duke Alamboye- Kitchener, to mark the just concluded 2020 World Youth Day. Details of other issues raised are contained in the Communique made available to newsmen in Abuja:

According to the communiqué, it noted that the economic gap between the developed North and the developing south should be bridged through trade mechanisms that are enhanced by exchanges in the knowledge and application of technological know – how and non politically motivated aids for sustainable development which they maintained is the only way to enhancing peace and security of the world,

They also advice that racism and violence against black people all over the world should be shunned, as the creator made the human environment to be equally co-habited with universal equal right, and privileges.

The communiqué continues,”The Nigeria youth organization (NYO), join the rest of the world to celebrate the International Youth  Day 2020, with the theme: “Youth Engagement for Global Action.

We support the highlight of the theme, which is aimed at crusading for the youths to be actively engaged in enriching national and multilateral institution, formal institutional polities at the Local, national and global levels.

iii. We call on the world to advocate against Xenophobic attacks on other African by the South African people, especially Nigerians among the majority of business men and women, who have lost tremendous lives ans properties and still at risk of further imminent attacks.

In addition, the government and people of Ghana should consider Nigerian living in that country, going about their legitimate business – should be accommodated as neigbours, friends and brothers and not threats to their country economy.

TOLERANCE

iv. Tolerance, they say is a  healing balm. Religious, cultural and political tolerance are key watchwords and tenets for lasting peace.

– Ensure healthy lives and promotes will-being for all, at all ages,

– Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

viii. WEALTH AND JOB CREATION

The NYO reiterates its commendation to President Mohammadu Buhari’s Administration for establishing the National Youth Investment Fund (NYIF). This fund shall go a long way to empower the Nigeria Youths to invest in their Talents, and business achievement, to become economically self-reliant.

We this opportunity to applaud the efforts of the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Sunday Dare, for securing the approval of the Federal Executives council to approve the Fund.

Our accolades Nigeria’s Minister  of state for administrators and policy makers to imbibe the culture of environmental friendly technology to save our planet from grave devastations.

For instance, we use this medium to call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to mitigate activities of multinational oil corporations in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria to imbibe the culture of environmentally friendly exploration of the nation’s oil resource to avoid ecological disaster and health of the people.

Vi STRENGTHENING DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTION.

There is no need to state the obvious that democratic deficits have led to loss of people’s trust in public institution. This is not for fetched from reason why participatory political culture including active role in election and in the world. Therefore, the human race, irrespective of colour race, tribe, ethnicity and socio –cultural belief system, must appreciate and tolerate one another’s differences in the interest of peace and security of the world.

V. Climate change

Jus tow days ago, a “Weird boomerang earthquake” was detected under the Atlantic Ocean, eastward across a deep gash in the sea floor a little more than 650 miles off the coast of Liberia in West African. It is ….. because of climate changes.

This was reported by seismologists at the National Geographic.

We hereby call on the science world, science and Technology ………. Have dwindled over time.

CONCLUSION

Therefore NYO supports the aim of International Youth Day 2020 anchored on the need to advocate for youth engagement in political leadership for the purpose of strengthening their capacity and relevance to achieve global action by making global institution to become more inclusive.
