Kebbi Beach Soccer Club, Kebbi Fishers have gone into intensive camping in Birnin Kebbi preparatory to the World Winners Cup competitions for countries Champions from all over the world.
Kebbi Fishers will make history as the first African Club to compete in the competition which will hold in Alanya, Turkey from October 21 – 27.
According to the Chairman of Kebbi Beach Soccer Association, Mahmoud Hadejia, the Fishers were invited by the organizers Beach Soccer Worldwide (Affiliate of FIFA) through the Nigeria Football Federation and the club has confirmed its participation.
“We are the first Club from Africa invited to participate in the competition by the organizers. It has always been a competition among champions from Europe, America and Asia but this will have an African Club participating and that is Kebbi Fishers. It is amazing. “
Hadejia further noted that the club which has enjoyed a tremendous amount of support from the sports loving Governor Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu will not be mere participants in the competition as they are going to compete for the trophy as worthy ambassadors of the African continent.
He maintained that the early camping of the Club which will run for eight weeks leading to the tournament is a pointer at the desire of the Club to spring surprises at the championship and added that the players are ready to reciprocate the good gesture of the state government and total support of the sports loving people of Kebbi.
