As the World Youth Day is celebrated across the globe today, the Nigeria Youth Organisation (NYO), North Central Zone, advocates for the use of Face Masks in Public Places, with the slogan, “Save Your Life. Save Others”
In a Statement signed by the North Central Zonal Coordinator of the Organisation, Comrade Austin Akubo, noted that the NYO is also in solidarity with the ongoing World Face Mask Week, scheduled from 7th to 14th August, 2020.
According to the Coordinator, the Organisation has mapped out strategic plans to join forces with Google, Facebook, WHO, Pandemic Action Network, CDC, US CDC, US CDC Foundation, Global Citizen, NCDC, and other International and other national NGOs, to carry out intensive campaign to curb the exponential rise in the Corona Virus in Nigeria and the African continent.
The statement also added that the organisation supports the participation of Youths towards achieving the global goals to “ensure healthy lives and promote well-being, for all, at all ages, ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote life-long learning opportunities for all; end hunger and achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture”.
The NYO Zonal Leader, also commended the Swift and proactive efforts President Muhammadu Buhari’s led Federal Government of Nigeria, for deploying enough resources for stemming the tide of the Pandemic in the country, adding that the Post COVID-19 economic initiatives of creating a National Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), and 774,000 Jobs as highly commendable.
He further emphasized that towards attaining the successful implementation of the strategic goals of the Organisation in the North Central Zone of Nigeria, a special meeting has been scheduled to hold in Makurdi the Benue State capital, from 18-19 August, 2020, under the Chairmanship of its National President, Hon. Abdullahi Wali.
