Former Super Eagles defender who recently signed for Derby County, Efe Ambrose has revealed his interest to return to the Super Eagles and even wish to be a part of the Super Eagles sqaud to the 2019 Africa cup of Nations.
Ambrose established himself in the national team under coaches Stephen Keshi and Sunday Oliseh and even won the 2013 AFCON, but he has since been overlooked by Rohr.
“It will be a great honour to play again for the Super Eagles, but the most important thing is for the coach to pick you on merit, that’s what really counts,” he said in an interview monitored by SCORENigeria
The experienced defender further said he plays for the team and he believes he can improve the current Super Eagles.
“I play for the team, it’s not about Efe Ambrose, it’s the team because football is a team sport,” he said.
“I believe I can play in different positions for this team as I have done previously.
“I can score goals going upfront and I can defend and bring stability to the defence. I’m composed, have good speed and I’m good in the air.”
Efe Ambrose said his recent transfer to Derby County has taken him closer to his dream of playing in the Premier League in England.
“Joining Derby County is a step closer to playing in the Premier League,” the former Celtic star said. Derby County are seventh on the English Championship table with 51 points from 32 matches, just two points outside the promotion playoffs bracket.
