The 2024 Kids Soccer League, (KSL) powered by former Nigeria International, Femi Ajilore schedule to kickoff this weekend is expected to feature eight teams drawn from within the Federal Capital Territory.
The coordinator himself, Femi Ajilore told our correspondent during the week that the eight participating teams emerged after careful selections and screening carried out by distinguished coaches drawn from the Federal Capital Territory, among whom was assistant national U-17 coach, coach Bassey and Bumi Blair.
He noted that each team team is expected to present a team that will feature in the U-9, U11 and U-14 categories.
Ajilore maintained that the matches would be played in a normal league format of home and away matches.
Speaking further, Ajilore said, “I can tell you that all the kids are all excited to start another season. A lot of them were retracing back to the last season. You know, some of the players that won few awards were looking forward to another promising season with the hope that they can win something again. So, generally, the screening was a successful one and I am eagerly looking forward to this year’s edition. A lot of the parents too are also looking forward to see their kids compete again, and also rooting for their teams.
“So, this season is going to be a very unique one, as it also involves the FCT FA. So, a lot is expected from this year’s league, and of course for us it’s very important that these kids have the platform where they can continue to grow in football.
“Like I always maintain, it’s not enough for them to train, and that is one of the major reason is made this platform is made for them. So that, as they train they also compete in real football. And I am so happy to see that almost all the kids now take football serious unlike in our time where we hardly use football booth to play at those age. And this is where the main football grassroots development starts and it is my believe that as they grow with it, in future to come we will many of them representing our darling nation and do us proud. But, we have to start and I am very happy that we have started, the kids have started their sporting journey they will all make it to stardom.
