DIG Hashimu Argungu, Chairman of the Police Service Commission, congratulated the 2022 police constables on completing their rigorous training program at the 16 police training colleges/schools.

The passing-out parade ceremony, held on January 23rd, 2025, marked the official admission of the new recruits into the Nigeria Police Force.

In a heartfelt address, Argungu expressed his delight in witnessing the recruits’ successful completion of the strenuous training program, which has prepared them for the challenging responsibilities of maintaining law and order, and protecting lives and properties in the country.

He urged the new constables to make Nigeria proud by upholding the dignity and respect of their office.

The Chairman reminded the recruits that the Police Service Commission, as their employers, will continue to support them and ensure their career progression is predictable and guided by established rules and regulations.

He emphasized the Commission’s constitutional mandate, as outlined in Section 153 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), which vests the Commission with powers to appoint, promote, dismiss, and exercise disciplinary control over members of the Nigeria Police Force.

Argungu acknowledged the nation’s ongoing security challenges, including banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and terrorism.

However, he noted that the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has pledged support for manpower improvement and logistical assistance.

The Chairman charged the new recruits to reciprocate this gesture by working in partnership with other security agencies to eliminate or reduce the security challenges facing the nation.

The Police Service Commission Chairman cautioned the new constables that the Commission will closely monitor their activities and will not hesitate to sanction any deviant behavior.

Again, he also assured them that gallantry and commitment to duty will be commended and recognized.

Argungu reminded the new recruits that the office of a constable is a dignified office that deserves dignity and respect.

He urged them to conduct themselves in a manner deserving of a police officer and wished them a rewarding and productive career in the Nigeria Police Force.

As the new constables embark on their journey, they carry with them the weight of responsibility to serve and protect the nation.

With the support of the Police Service Commission and the Federal Government, they are poised to make a positive impact and uphold the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.
