The Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) in collaboration with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) is set to hold a high-level workshop on strategies for increased fiscal efficiency and enhanced government revenue. The workshop, themed “Strategy for Fiscal Efficiency, Enhanced Government Revenue, and Plugging Leakages in Nigeria’s Financial Management System,” aims to reinforce the principles of fiscal responsibility within government operations.

The workshop is designed to enhance participants’ capacity to implement reforms that strengthen transparency and accountability, provide a roadmap for improved fiscal efficiency, and reduce leakages in government finance. It will also encourage synergy between fiscal policymakers, regulators, and institutional leaders for better economic governance in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The workshop will feature presentations from seasoned experts and policy leaders, including Victor Muruako, Executive Chairman of the FRC, Prof. Uche Uwaleke, and Chukwuemeka Charles Abana, Director, Legal, Investigations and Enforcement, FRC. The event is expected to attract Chief Executives and Directors of Finance, Accounts, and Legal Services from Government-Owned Enterprises (GOEs), senior officials from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and selected policymakers.

The FRC, established under the Fiscal Responsibility Act (FRA), 2007, is mandated to monitor and enforce the payment of Operating Surplus by 68 GOEs, while also ensuring accountability in the management of internally generated revenue by other critical government agencies. The collaboration with NIPSS underscores the recognition of the Institute as Nigeria’s apex policy think-tank and training hub for strategic leadership.
