Former Super Eagles coordinator, Emmanuel Attah has praised Genort Rohr for bringing back team captain, Mikel Obi ahead of their Nations cup participation in Egypt stressing that his experience will come handy at such a very crucial football competition.

Speaking exclusively with www.theajasanews.com, Attah said, “I am happy the coach did not heed to critics who wanted Mikel dropped because he did not feature  in the AFCON qualifiers. Mikel will be the leader the Super Eagles need to win their fourth cup of Nations. Mikel’s recall is good for the Eagles ambition ” Attah

The Benue state born astute football administrator also expressed optimism that the Nigerian senior team can emulate the 2013 squad with a surprise victory at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt if they play for each other.

Attah maintained that just like the cup winning 2013 squad,  the current Eagles  are young and ambitious adding that what they needed most to conquer Africa  in Egypt is unity and purpose.

“I think the Eagles can bring back then AFCON trophy if the team play for each other and have self believe. There must be unity in the team and most importantly they require some element  of luck to emerge champions in Egypt.

“Like in 2013, Super Eagles are not among the favourites to lift the cup but I believe they can spring a surprise if they play with total commitment and without  fear of any team they encounter in the championship. The Eagles must first navigate their way through  them group stage to the knockout stage before dreaming of another cup win” Attah stressed.
