AFCON 2019: Unknown sickness hit Super Eagles players in Alexandra

Except there is a last minute miracle the technical adviser of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Genort Rohr may find it absolutely difficult to raise a full squad ahead of the team opening match against Burundi at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt on Saturday, as an unknown sickness is said to have hit most of the players.

According to a sportinglife report and monitored by www.theajasanews.com, about 10 of the players may not be ready for selection as they are currently down with the ailment.

The report has it that the team handler Gernot Rohr has been working hard with the team doctor Ibrahim to ensure the affected 10 Super Eagles recover fully on time for the Burundi match.

“four players are still sick could not participate in today’s training here in Alexandra”, a source close to the camp had said from the Eagles base in Alexandra

“Ahmed Musa, Shehu Abdullahi,  Paul Onuachu and Leon Balogun were completely out for now. They couldn’t train at all today. The virus is still around. The virus has really affected our players. The Coach is however not panicking but he is actually troubled about it. 

“Right now as we speak we have 10 people who were or are still sick. The sickness seems to come from the Air-condition of the hotel. Surely its a Virus”.

“We go to Alexandria today and hope the players recover before Saturday”
